Hey there! Welcome to our very first blog post. We’re so glad to see you here! I’m Gabby, LightBear’s outreach coordinator by day and a writer by night.
If you’re not familiar with LightBear Software, we’re a game development studio that prioritizes fostering a positive environment for gamers and game developers alike. As such, community is a pretty important value to us, and it shows! We’ve created a welcoming Discord server that is still growing every day. At the time of this writing, we officially have 500+ members (and we’re very grateful to each and every one of our cubs who make our little bear cave so amazing)! In our Discord server, we have a little bit of everything for everyone. For starters, we have a Question-Of-The-Day channel to help get the conversation rolling without the stress of figuring out how to break the ice. It’s a great way of getting to know the other people in the community!
Maybe you’re not much of a talker…that’s okay! For those who are looking for less talking but still want to participate in some way, we have a Pokémon bot where you can catch ’em all! Pokémon spawn based on how active the chat is, so if you want Pokémon to spawn faster, get to chatting! You’ll have to be quick at guessing the Pokémon though; the competition can get quite fierce!
If word games are more up your alley, we also have a Wordle bot! Challenge yourself and see how fast you can figure out the word of the day!
These are only a few of the activities we have available on the Discord server. If you prefer more real-time interactions, we host a game night on one of our voice channels every weekend! We usually play games like Jackbox Party Games, Skribbl, GeoGuessr, and more. We are also open to suggestions if you have a particular game you’d like to play! It’s always a good time, so be sure to join!
